If you would be interested in singing with the company, either as a principal or as a member of the Chorus, please get in touch with . Since HGO has no regular independent funding, each participating member is asked to make a donation towards the cost of its productions. Special arrangements may be made for full-time students and post-graduates experiencing financial difficulties. Membership donations are payable immediately upon a role being offered and accepted – at the latest at the first rehearsal (unless payment in instalments has been agreed in advance). Members are also expected (within reason) to sell a minimum of 10 tickets each.

Rehearsals

Regular rehearsal days are Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7 pm to 10 pm and Sunday afternoons from 2.0 pm to 6.0 pm. Not everyone will be called for every rehearsal and individual member's NAs ("not available" dates) of which sufficient notice is given will be taken into account as far as practicable. Other rehearsals may be called as the need arises (usually on Saturdays and especially in the run up to performance). Weekday rehearsals are normally held at the Methodist Church on the corner of Caledonian Road and Market Road, and Sunday rehearsals at All Saints Church Hall on the corner of Talbot Road and Church Road, Highgate N6.

Performances

There are usually two productions a year, in April and November, at Upstairs at the Gatehouse. Principals are normally double cast.

The director/producer usually varies from show to show.

Performances take place over a two week run, usually on the Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon of week one and Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoon of week two. Extra performances, especially Saturday matinées, may be added for popular shows.

The sitzprobe/orchestral rehearsal generally takes place on the Sunday afternoon/evening immediately before the first performance, with the technical rehearsals and two dress rehearsals (one per cast) on the Wednesday and Thursday of the first performance week.
